News : Whip Your Kitchen Skills into Shape
Date: Feb 06, 2012
Do you kitchen skills need whipping into shape!?
Perhaps you've never been near the cooker in your life.... or maybe you're passionate about cooking but would love to improve and learn more about nutrition and cooking on a budget.
Having the ability to cook cheaply and nutritiously are important skills to have, not to mention a great way to impress your family, friends and perhaps even that special person!
Student Life is offering a short cookery course this semester aiming to get you well versed with the basics of cooking and food preparation. Working in a large fully operational catering kitchen, you’ll be preparing and cooking food from basic ingredients to the finished article.
The course is run in partnership with Salford Health Improvement Team who will teach you in small groups so you have a good chance to pick up all the necessary skills and ask any relevant questions along the way.
What's more, you get to eat your finished product and will even have the opportunity to take something home as well (provided there’s anything left!).
This is also a great opportunity to meet new people, pick up some nutritional advice and, most importantly, have fun.
The course will be taking place in kitchens based in Allerton Building, Frederick Road Campus. Further details will be available upon signing up to the course.
The course runs over 4 weeks on Mondays between 4.00pm - 6.00pm on the following dates:
Monday 20 February
Monday 27 February
Monday 5 March
